This collection was run on a Nicolet FTIR with a
Pike MIRacle ATR accessory. Spectra were mostly run on a diamond/ZnSe
(Zinc Selenide) crystal and a few on a Germanium(Ge) crystal. It
is perhaps the first spectral library focusing on retail cosmetic and
hygiene products and related raw materials. The products covered are
from both the US and European consumer markets.
These spectra are expected to be useful for the
retail consumer products industries and for crime labs looking for new
trace analysis tools. Manufacturers of all type that address consumer
product failures would have a tool for distinguishing between
manufacturing process materials and consumer contaminants.
There are several general classes of (commercial available) compounds
including: After Shave, Air Freshener, Antistatic Agent,
Balm, Bath Foam, Body Gel, Body Lotion,
Body Milk, Cleaning Agents for Bathrooms, Carpets, Dishes,
WC, and Windows, Cleansing Lotion, Milk, Oil,
