FDM ATR Dyes ( 170 Spectra )
This collection of dye, stain and pigment spectra was run mostly
on a single bounce ZnSe ATR crystal with a small minority being
run on a diamond-ZnSe crystal. The instrument was a Bruker Equinox
FTIR at 2 cm-1 optical
resolution with a Pike MIRacle(tm) ATR accessory.
Aside from this being authentic ATR spectra the collection is valuable
because of the work that went into the naming. Each spectrum has
a recognizable common name and, if available, a C. I. number, a CAS
number, and, in many cases, both. Searching the web with the CI or CAS
numbers is most useful for finding a wide variety of chemical
information and suppliers. In terms of chemical information
finding the correct synonym along with matching a CI and/or CAS number
is really important as dyes have so many synonyms. Thus, with our extra
effort in locating these numbers you'll be well prepared to not only
find the correct spectrum but to give it the correct name.
We should note there are related FDM databases. The FDM
Comprehensive Organics has transmission FTIR spectra of many
dyes. Additionally, the two FDM inorganic databases are of
obvious interest.
A chemical name index is available on request.
