FDM FTIR Organics
400 cm-1 to 4000 cm-1
4 cm-1 resolution
This library of transmission FTIR spectra was designed for general purpose use for the FTIR user concerned with solvents, reagents, and basic organic chemicals.
Organic compound classes include acids, esters, ethers, alcohols, alkanes, alkenes, amines, aldehydes, amides, anhydrides, lactones, thiols, ketones, benzenes, pyridenes, nitriles, and much more.
It is readily feasible to get good search results searching ATR spectra against a transmission library and vice versa. One need only restrict the spectral search range to the fingerprint region. The search scores will be lower but that is of little or no consequence as the top hits are what count most.
Germanium ATR spectra are substantially closer in appearence to transmission spectra than are ZnSe or Diamond ATR spectra. Thus, the four Germanium ATR libraries in the FDM ALL ATR Bundle are a natural first choice when searching transmission spectra. Germanium ATR spectra have the further advantage of more reproducible sampling than tranmission spectra.
Users are reminded that tranmission spectra differ from ATR spectra in that the peak shapes are of natural symmetry without a shift or bias imparted by ATR. Likewise, the signal in the high wavenumber end of the spectrum is naturally much stronger.
