FDM ATR Polymers Diamond
FDM ATR Polymers Germanium
  • 400 cm-1 to 4000 cm-1, Diamond ATR crystal

  • 600 cm-1 to 4000 cm-1, Germanium ATR crystal

  • 2 cm-1 resolution

These  ATR/FTIR spectra are for analyzing polymers, plastics, rubber, and adhesives and sealants. The included materials are plasticizers, polymers,  copolymers, terpolymers, monomers, and polymer additives. Plastic rod  stock and commodity plastic pellets were added for both common resins  and engineering plastics. To support rubber analysis we included uses  and hardness (durometer) in each spectrum’s chemical name.

The  FDM ATR Polymers Diamond were run on on a monolithic diamond ATR  crystal (RI 2.4). The FDM ATR Polymers Germanium were run on a Germanium ATR  crystal (RI 4.0) to address the strong refractive index often found in the  spectra of compounds such as polysulfides, polysulphones, a wide variety of dyes, substituted aromatics and especially halo-substituted aromatics. Samples loaded with carbon black including rubber, black plastics, paints, and so on, often have high refractive index and their spectra are improved on a Germanium ATR prism.  Molecules with strong covalent bonds, sometimes called strong oscillators by spectroscopists, often have diamond or ZnSe ATR spectra that are improved on a Germanium ATR crystal.
