Variable Angle ATR

We publish the FDM Multiangle ATR Polymers spectral library and the several ATR libraries in the FDM ALL ATR Bundle.

Q: What is ATR?

A: ATR is Attenated Total Reflectance. It occurs on the face of an infrared transparent prism (diamond, Zinc selenide, Germanium) in contact with the sample on top of an ATR accessory in the sample compartment of an FTIR spectrometer. Most ATR accessories have a fixed angle of incidence of 45 degrees, which is adequate for a wide range of samples meaning the critical angle of the sample is well below 45 degrees or the sample has a refractive index below 1.7

Q: What is Variable Angle ATR?

A: Variable Angle ATR accessories are typically automated and they allow one to record spectra over a wide range of angles of incidence. They are commonly combined with an automated polarizer. With the larger and richer datasets scientists can routinely fingerprint their materials at different angles and polarizations, and access information simply not available on a conventional fixed angle ATR accessory.

We provide:

1) the FDM Multiangle ATR Polymers spectral library, the FDM ALL ATR Bundle, and

2) the FDM SearchFaster™ software, for searching your unknown spectra against the FDM FTIR libraries.

We offer our libraries and software via a one-time license fee or on a subscription basis.
